Hotels

The George & Dragon Hotel

High St, West Wycombe, High Wycombe HP14 3AB, UK – 01494 535340

Lovely traditional hotel and pub. Rooms are nicely furnished and well appointed though the water pressure is a bit low. Nice views of the surrounding town and countryside. The staff are friendly and helpful, and I had an evening meal and cooked breakfast - both were exceptional; even if you're not staying id highly recommend eating here. Next time I'm in the area I'll definitely call in for some food!

This is one of my favourite pubs, to the extent I'm happy to drive here from Milton Keynes. The food is great. The menu has pub grub favourites but also much better seasonal items you won't see elsewhere. Good range of beers. Staff are excellent. We have turned up here without booking and they have done things like rearrange tables to accommodate us. Very dog friendly. Large car park. Outdoor seating in a garden at the back. Great walks nearby.

The Crown

City Rd, High Wycombe HP14 4DW, UK – 01494 482301

This restaurants recent renovation has produced extraordinary and satisfying results. The interior has been tastefully redesigned to a modern degree with an appreciation to the buildings Edwardian era roots. All of the staff are welcoming, friendly and attentive. Being related to the head chef I cannot legitimately comment on the food without obvious bias. However, I can say that monumental feats of effort have been put into painstakingly crafting a menu filled with creatively thought of and delicious food.

We took our mum here for Mother's Day. The food was delicious, we had the roast dinner and fish and chips, both were fabulous and just the right amount of food. We also shared the rhubarb and white chocolate posset and the rocky road chocolate brownie for pudding. Fair to say we had clean plates all round! Service was great. Compliments to the chefs! We'll definitely be returning.

The Chequers Inn

Bullocks Farm Ln, Lane End, High Wycombe HP14 3NH, UK – 01494 883070

Visited this pub a couple of times which has been tastefully refurbished recently by the new owners. Friendly and welcoming with good service and very good food. Open log fire in the bar, bright spacious restaurant at the back which leads out into a small garden which in the summer is a real sun trap. Dog friendly. Well worth a visit.

New menu very nice. Friendly staff. Nice tradional pub bright modern restaurant to the rear. Good for kids and dog's. Highly recommend it

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!

If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!

HellFire Caves

Church Ln, West Wycombe, High Wycombe HP14 3AH, UK – 01494 533739

Short, sweet and atmospheric. Try and find another place to park as it's very tight up a single width lane up a tight incline. Worth a walk up to the mausoleum at the top of the hill and West Wycombe Park when open nearby.

It's an interesting experience for sure and for such a low price it's worth taking the kids to see this interesting site. It's pretty claustrophobic in some areas so don't go if you've got a problem with tight spaces.

Campsites and Caravan Parks

Home Farm Camping, Glamping & Caravan Site

Home Farm, City Rd, Radnage, High Wycombe HP14 4DW, UK – 01494 484136

I liked this place a lot. Like Goldilocks, not too big, not too small - but just right. The toilets were serviceable, I didn't use the showers, and the electric hook-up electrified. Fabulous views!

Quiet, stunning views, well maintained, facilities being improved all the time....best place to unwind....very affable host lovely location....handy five minute stroll to the village pub ...what more could a fresh air junkie ever need!

Bella Vista Camping

City Rd, Radnage, High Wycombe HP14 4DW, UK – 07976 256641

We have stayed on this site at least 6 or 7 times as it is local to us, what a great site, lovely people, lovely surrounding, Simon and Lisa made us very welcome and are always available if you need help. Local pub very hospitable, toilets and shower block are in a army tent and are spotless loads of hot water. Dog walking excellent on and off site, Couldn't wish for a better place in such idilic surroundings. Back soon thank you so much.

Lovely peaceful location, on the drive home one evening saw a young deer taking a stroll along the road. Facilities were more than adequate, if not a little too communal for my personal tastes. Nevertheless it wouldn't stop me staying there again.
