Hotels

The George & Dragon Hotel

High St, West Wycombe, High Wycombe HP14 3AB, UK – 01494 535340

Room was large and full of character, extremely comfy beds, the only downside was that there was no hot water in the morning (although we were up late). All the staff we met were very polite, pleasant and friendly. The meal that I ate was one of the best I have ever had at a restaurant (including Michelin star).

Well decorated and typical countryside pub and hotel. Nice garden on the back where you can enjoy sunny weather and marvelous food, which is exquisite and well prepared. The overall price had few quids that could have been waved off IMHO, but it's worth returning.

The Crown

City Rd, High Wycombe HP14 4DW, UK – 01494 482301

This restaurants recent renovation has produced extraordinary and satisfying results. The interior has been tastefully redesigned to a modern degree with an appreciation to the buildings Edwardian era roots. All of the staff are welcoming, friendly and attentive. Being related to the head chef I cannot legitimately comment on the food without obvious bias. However, I can say that monumental feats of effort have been put into painstakingly crafting a menu filled with creatively thought of and delicious food.

Today went in for a coffee and a wine. Very nice staff but I was early so two diners outside and Four inside. Food looks good and the beer is kept well (ex Publican in Mayfair & Soho) Refurb looks good and will get customers as not sure when the Mash at City ,(I think its called) about one mile up the road BUT a different clientele.

Chris's Motel

Wycombe Rd, High Wycombe HP14 3XB, UK – 01494 482121

A cozy little motel with a gorgeous view of the nearby stables and fields. We got to watch a game of horse polo from our room window. The service and food are also excellent! Highly recommend.

Great Rooms and great price. Rooms clean and tidy, Food Good at reasonable prices. Can't ask for any more.

Pubs, Gastro Pubs and Bars

The Chequers Inn

Bullocks Farm Ln, Lane End, High Wycombe HP14 3NH, UK – 01494 883070

Visited this pub a couple of times which has been tastefully refurbished recently by the new owners. Friendly and welcoming with good service and very good food. Open log fire in the bar, bright spacious restaurant at the back which leads out into a small garden which in the summer is a real sun trap. Dog friendly. Well worth a visit.

Pleasant country pub, the food and service is very good.

The Black Lion

Woodlands Dr, High Wycombe, Naphill, High Wycombe HP14 4SH, UK – 01494 563176

Lovely flint building and large beer garden. Reasonable range of mainly local ales and pub grub menu at fairly low prices. Popular with local families

Friendly staff, great food and the outside yard is full of local family's and kids.

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!

If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!

National Trust - West Wycombe Park

Park, Village and Hill, High Wycombe HP14 3AJ, UK – 01494 755571

Large National Trust country house of the Dashwood family (who still live here). This is a good half day out, take the tour and learn how the family modified the house, wander the park and explore the village. The Hell Fire caves are nearby, but not part of the NT. The church and mausoleum are on the hill overlooking the village, but there is a large car park on the hill top

Beautiful house set in wonderful gardens. Family seat of the Dashwood family. West Wycombe itself has interesting little shops including a brilliant sweet shop and The Apple Orchard. The Hell Fire Caves and St Lawrence's Church with its commanding views and its Golden Ball are also well worth a visit.

Campsites and Caravan Parks

Home Farm Camping, Glamping & Caravan Site

Home Farm, City Rd, Radnage, High Wycombe HP14 4DW, UK – 01494 484136

Awesome place. Great views. Great nature walks. Friendly and easygoing owner. Great pub next door.

I liked this place a lot. Like Goldilocks, not too big, not too small - but just right. The toilets were serviceable, I didn't use the showers, and the electric hook-up electrified. Fabulous views!

Bella Vista Camping

City Rd, Radnage, High Wycombe HP14 4DW, UK – 07976 256641

We have stayed on this site at least 6 or 7 times as it is local to us, what a great site, lovely people, lovely surrounding, Simon and Lisa made us very welcome and are always available if you need help. Local pub very hospitable, toilets and shower block are in a army tent and are spotless loads of hot water. Dog walking excellent on and off site, Couldn't wish for a better place in such idilic surroundings. Back soon thank you so much.

Lovely peaceful location, on the drive home one evening saw a young deer taking a stroll along the road. Facilities were more than adequate, if not a little too communal for my personal tastes. Nevertheless it wouldn't stop me staying there again.
