The Crown

City Rd, High Wycombe HP14 4DW, UK – 01494 482301

Amazing country pub with good selections of ales and larger. Food menu were great with good selections. Had few meals in here and all meals served was top quality with amazing presentation. Staff were very friendly.

The Crown catered for 12 of us. The food was delicious, and the waiting staff were extremely polite and helpful. We visited on a Sunday and ordered from the lunch menu. The roast dinners were individually cooked to perfection. Thank you.

The George & Dragon Hotel

High St, West Wycombe, High Wycombe HP14 3AB, UK – 01494 535340

Nice place, Good food, Staff were reasonably accommodating, okay experience! We went here looking for some food before attending the "west wycombe chamber music festival" the place seemed very nice. At first we were turned away as the restaurant part of the pub was apparently fully booked. Luckily my Dad was a performer at the festival and the performers had booked a big table the staff seemed stressed by us jumping on the end of the table they faffed trying to find us some spare chairs in the end they managed to find some albeit that they felt like they were going to fall apart. Other than this and the toilet being outside. The rest of the visit was good the food we had was really nice and the bar staff were really friendly.

Perfect weekend away, lovely location, great food and service. Room was better than expected for a Public house Hotel. Will definitely visit again.

Pubs, Gastro Pubs and Bars

The Chequers Inn

Bullocks Farm Ln, Lane End, High Wycombe HP14 3NH, UK – 01494 883070

The Chequers is a lovely family pub, I have been going there on and off for many years, the food is incredible and the staff and Landlady are very welcoming and easy to talk to. Highly recommend for lunch and dinner as the quality of food is excellent at a reasonable price.

Proper pint of pride and a lovely cider. Good quality and nice atmosphere.

The Dashwood Arms Public House

Old Oxford Rd, Piddington, Bucks HP14 3BH, UK – 01494 881488

What every lively pub should aspire to be like. Wayne and Tina and the bar staff are so friendly. Live bands most Friday and Saturday nights. Always a great atmosphere and the foods great reasonably priced and the portions are large.

Loved it. One of the best landlords ever. Follows pub traditions. Good food served from a small kitchen, patience with a smile.

The Black Lion

Woodlands Dr, High Wycombe, Naphill, High Wycombe HP14 4SH, UK – 01494 563176

Lovely flint building and large beer garden. Reasonable range of mainly local ales and pub grub menu at fairly low prices. Popular with local families

Friendly staff, great food and the outside yard is full of local family's and kids.

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!

If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!

National Trust - West Wycombe Park

Park, Village and Hill, High Wycombe HP14 3AJ, UK – 01494 755571

Large National Trust country house of the Dashwood family (who still live here). This is a good half day out, take the tour and learn how the family modified the house, wander the park and explore the village. The Hell Fire caves are nearby, but not part of the NT. The church and mausoleum are on the hill overlooking the village, but there is a large car park on the hill top

The car park is a good 10 minutes walk from the manor house & we were directed across wet grass, lovely! Tours are by timed ticket only but you'll only get to see the ground floor as a generation of the Dashwood's still live here but as it's National Trust I think you should get to see more. Also no indoor photos. However what you do see on a guided tour is very interesting & vast grounds to walk around. Toilets in car park only no tea rooms.

Campsites and Caravan Parks

Home Farm Camping, Glamping & Caravan Site

Home Farm, City Rd, Radnage, High Wycombe HP14 4DW, UK – 01494 484136

Lovely campsite with stunning view across the valley (helped by great weather for all 4 days). Nice "get away from it all" vibe, and access to great walks in the beautiful Chilterns. Plenty of nice country pubs to choose from in the area. No shops in the immediate vicinity, so bring all your provisions with you if possible (or else cycle/drive/ eat out!). Would visit again.

Great campsite. 3 lovely tiled shower rooms with a loo in each plus 2 more toilets. A fridge freezer on site which everyone shared with courtesy for others. We were glamping for the first time and it exceeded all expectations. Just needed to turn up with food and clothes! Lovely walks, lovely views and a very helpful owner. The pub next door was great and a 5 mins drive to a tesco express for any other supplies.

Bella Vista Camping

City Rd, Radnage, High Wycombe HP14 4DW, UK – 07976 256641

It's OK but for the price £20 you expect more, I have paid a lot less for better facilities. It would get 4 or 5 stars if it was £15

Lovely site. Owners are really nice. Will be staying again definitely.
